The surgical version
A laser fibre goes in through a small cut under local anaesthetic, melts fat, and the fat is suctioned out. It's priced like other liposuction: one area €2,200 to €4,500. The heat may tighten the skin a little.

The salon version
Laser pads rest on the skin for a session, with no cut and no suction. Courses are advertised in Ireland from about €75 a session to €900 a course. Any change is small and depends on keeping your weight steady. If you want fat gone for good, it isn't the same thing as liposuction.
Who the surgical version suits
Small areas with firm skin: chin, neck, arms, flanks. Not for you if:
- your weight is still going up or down
- the real problem is loose skin, not fat
- you smoke and can't stop before surgery
- you're pregnant, breastfeeding or planning a pregnancy soon
Risks
Bruising, swelling for up to six months, numbness for six to eight weeks and small scars are normal. Less often: uneven or lumpy results, a collection of blood or fluid, infection, skin colour changes, or a reaction to the anaesthetic. Rarely: a blood clot that travels to the lungs, fluid on the lungs, or injury to an internal organ. With laser, the heat can rarely cause a burn.
Questions
Is laser lipo in Dublin surgery?
Laser-assisted liposuction is. Non-surgical laser sessions aren't. Ask the provider which they mean.
Does non-surgical laser lipo remove fat?
Not in the way liposuction does. Expect a small change at most.
